RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAMS IN BC (LAST UPDATED September, 2015)

67 British Columbia communities are serviced by RJ programs that comply with the Province’s Community Accountability Programs (CAP) Grant Criteria 2015/16 http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/crimeprevention/justice/

These programs along with their contact information are listed on the Province of BC website at: http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/crimeprevention/shareddocs/RestorativeJusticeProgramsBritishColumbia.pdf

The ministry pamphlet “… about restorative justice as practised in B.C. for service providers, potential participants, and others.” is at http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/crimeprevention/shareddocs/pubs/crime-prev-series3-restorative-justice.pdf

The municipalities of Surrey, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Port Moody, Abbotsford and Coquitlam all have well-established RJ programs.

The only Vancouver based RJ program on the Provincial CAP list is the Vancouver Aboriginal Transformative Justice Services Society. There are other organizations that employ restorative practices that do not fit the provincial Grant Criteria such as the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre Society

Vancouver is the only municipality in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley that does not have a Restorative Justice program accessible to the broader youth and adult community.
